OCC securities lending average daily loan value up 87 per cent YoY

OCC’s July 2021 total cleared contract volume was 795m contracts, up 29 per cent compared to July 2020 — the highest July on record, and fifth highest month in OCC’s history.

The year-to-date average daily cleared contract volume was 39m contracts, up 38 per cent YoY while the average daily loan value for securities lending was $123 billion, an 87 per cent YoY increase. Securities lending central counterparty activity increased 33 per cent in new loans YoY with 156,736 transactions, according to the Options Clearing Corporation.

The average daily volume for options and all contracts is up nearly 39 per cent YoY. Total exchange-listed options cleared contract volume was 790m, up 29 per cent YoY and equity options cleared contract volume was 749m contracts, up 29 per cent YoY. This includes ETF options cleared contract volume of 211m, a 2 per cent increase compared to July 2020.

Index options volume was 41m, up 40 per cent YoY. OCC's year-to-date average daily cleared options volume is 39m contracts. Total futures cleared contract volume was 4.7m, a 35 per cent increase YoY. OCC's year-to-date average daily cleared futures volume is 235,382 contracts.
